Eating Disorders Association of Maine

Transforming a longstanding nonprofit website into a welcoming, accessible, and search-friendly resource hub for eating disorder support throughout Maine.

Eating Disorders Association of Maine redesigned website homepage
The Project

A clearer digital home for support, education, and connection.

The Eating Disorders Association of Maine needed a website that could better reflect the depth of its mission while making critical information easier for community members, loved ones, providers, and professionals to find.

CV Brands led a complete website rebrand and rebuild, creating a thoughtful digital experience that feels warm, trustworthy, and grounded in EDAM’s work. Alongside the visual transformation, we reorganized the website’s content, strengthened its search foundation, and expanded its visibility across relevant online directories.

The goal was not simply to make the website look different. It was to make EDAM’s resources easier to navigate, easier to understand, and easier to discover.

The Challenge

Important resources were getting lost in an outdated structure.

EDAM’s previous website held years of valuable information, including provider listings, treatment resources, educational materials, membership information, events, and community support. But the site’s structure and visual presentation made it difficult for visitors to understand where to begin.

The organization also needed a stronger search presence. Individual pages required clearer keyword targeting, metadata, headings, internal links, and content organization so people searching for eating disorder help in Maine could more easily discover relevant resources.

Our challenge was to preserve EDAM’s history and community-centered identity while creating a modern website that could support the organization’s next chapter.

Our Scope

Strategy, design, and visibility working together.

We approached the project as a complete digital ecosystem rather than a collection of disconnected website pages.

01

Website Strategy

We mapped a clearer user journey for people looking for help, providers joining the directory, professionals seeking education, and community members wanting to support EDAM.

02

Full Visual Rebrand

We established an updated visual direction with an approachable color palette, intentional typography, organic design elements, and consistent styling throughout the website.

03

Custom Squarespace Design

We rebuilt the site with flexible page layouts, stronger calls to action, responsive mobile styling, and custom code where the standard Squarespace tools needed extra support.

04

SEO Strategy

We optimized page titles, descriptions, headings, URLs, image text, service language, internal links, and resource content around the ways people actually search for support.

05

Directory Development

We transformed the provider directory into a more organized, expandable resource with individual search-friendly listings and clearer provider categories.

06

Citation Building

We strengthened EDAM’s off-site presence through consistent business and nonprofit listings, helping search engines better understand the organization’s identity, location, and mission.

The Brand Direction

Compassionate without feeling clinical.

EDAM supports people navigating deeply personal and often overwhelming experiences. The new visual identity needed to feel credible enough for providers and community partners while remaining approachable for individuals and families seeking help.

We moved away from a dense, institutional presentation and created a softer visual system inspired by connection, movement, hope, and the natural landscape of Maine.

  • Warm, calming, and community-centered visual direction
  • Organic shapes and gentle movement throughout the site
  • Accessible contrast and more readable content layouts
  • Consistent buttons, cards, headings, and calls to action
  • A flexible design system that EDAM can continue using

Find Support

Clearer resource pathways

Visitors can more easily locate treatment providers, treatment centers, crisis resources, self-help information, and support for loved ones.

Explore Providers

A redesigned provider directory

Provider listings were organized into a searchable content system with categories and individual pages that can be expanded as EDAM’s membership grows.

Attend Events

Stronger event promotion

Conferences and educational events now have space for detailed agendas, presenter information, registration links, continuing education details, and event-specific SEO.

Get Involved

More visible ways to participate

Membership, donations, volunteering, provider participation, and community involvement are connected through stronger calls to action.

SEO + Visibility

Helping the right resources show up at the right moment.

For an organization like EDAM, search visibility is more than a marketing goal. It can help connect someone with information, support, or treatment options when they need them.

We built an SEO foundation that supports EDAM’s statewide mission while giving its educational content, provider listings, events, and resource pages more opportunities to be found.

Keyword and search-intent mapping

We aligned core pages with searches related to eating disorder help, treatment, education, advocacy, professional resources, and provider support in Maine.

Page-level optimization

We revised SEO titles, meta descriptions, page headings, URLs, image descriptions, and on-page copy to improve clarity for both people and search engines.

Expanded resource content

Thin or outdated pages were reorganized and strengthened with more useful information, clearer language, and direct pathways to related resources.

Internal linking and site architecture

Related pages were intentionally connected so visitors can continue exploring while search engines can better understand the website’s content structure.

Local citation building

We established and updated relevant online listings with consistent organizational information to reinforce EDAM’s legitimacy and connection to Maine.

A foundation for future growth

The updated structure gives EDAM room to continue publishing resources, expanding its directory, promoting events, and targeting additional search topics over time.

The Outcome

A website that finally reflects the importance of EDAM’s work.

EDAM now has a cohesive, modern, and easier-to-navigate digital home that can serve community members, providers, educators, and advocates throughout Maine.

The redesign brought the organization’s visual identity, messaging, resource structure, provider directory, event content, and search strategy into one connected system.

Just as importantly, the new website is designed to grow. EDAM can add resources, publish educational content, welcome new providers, promote future conferences, and expand its community impact without having to rebuild the foundation each time.

A more cohesive brand

Consistent visuals and messaging now communicate trust, compassion, professionalism, and community.

A more intuitive website

Visitors have clearer pathways based on whether they are seeking help, supporting someone, finding a provider, or getting involved.

A stronger search foundation

Core pages, events, resources, and provider listings have been structured to support long-term organic visibility.

A more sustainable system

Reusable layouts and content systems make it easier for the volunteer-led organization to maintain and expand the site.
